EuroTeQ Collider
Innovative Challenge-Based Learning for Engineers in Europe
TUM has joined forces with five leading technical universities and two business schools to form the EuroTeQ Alliance with the aim of modernising engineering education in Europe. A new format, the EuroTeQ Collider, was created for this purpose.
The EuroTeQ Collider is a challenge-based learning format and was created by the EuroTeQ universities. The term "Collider" symbolises the fact that the most creative and innovative solutions often arise from the collision of ideas from various groups.
The EuroTeQ Collider project weeks take place at each of the eight EuroTeQ universities, with the local Colliders being organised independently of each other. During these project weeks, interdisciplinary and heterogeneous teams consisting of students, doctoral students, trainees and employees from various companies work on different challenges.
At the end of the local Collider weeks, all projects are pitched. The best projects are selected by an independent jury and the three winning teams are invited to the EuroTeQaThon. The EuroTeQaThon is a three-day event with the aim of facilitating exchange between students from the partner universities, promoting creativity and innovation and finding possible synergies between projects from different universities. The final pitches are evaluated in front of a high-level jury composed of representatives from industry, European public institutions, non-governmental organisations and the EuroTeQ Advisory Board. Since this year, the EuroTeQaThon also offers the opportunity for selected winning teams to take part in a bootcamp with an entrepreneurial focus.
The world we live in is interconnected and interdependent, and so are we. Enhance Connections for Sustainable Futures is a topic that aims to help us understand and appreciate the value of our connections with ourselves, others, and the environment. It also inspires us to use these connections as a source of strength, creativity, and collaboration in solving the global issues that affect us all.
The categories for challenges are:
- People – Build stronger communities by facilitating meaningful connections
- Nature – Develop mindful connections to nature and careful consideration for our environmental resources
- Technology – Forge effective connections through technology, both digitally and physically
