Intermediate Evaluation II, #class26
Curriculum, News |
We're starting at the end, by honouring Professor Dr.-Ing. Gerhard Müller. At the "Intermediate Evaluation 2" seminar of #class26 at the TUM Friedrich N. Schwarz Research Station, high up in the forest above Berchtesgaden, Professor Müller inspired and challenged us one final time as Executive Vice President for Study and Teaching Affairs of TUM and Director of TUMJA. At the end of his keynote, "Future of the University," he said: "There is much to do for my successors." How true.
Dear Professor Müller, thank you for your energy, motivation and dedication, and for your tireless support of challenge-based learning and interdisciplinarity. You have enabled more than 500 scholarship holders to take part in this extraordinary development programme. You joined almost all of our 60 weekend seminars and always made open, respectful exchange at eye level possible. Your commitment has shaped this programme and its community in many lasting ways.
The weekend also brought many more memorable moments:
- Coaching sessions with our trainers Omar Rashed and Vicente Algaba Martínez
- Poster 2 presentations by our six research teams
- A hike through Nationalpark Berchtesgaden with ranger Nico Daume. On our way from the Jenner to the Middlestation we swapped the seminar room for mountain forests, alpine meadows and breathtaking views. Nico showed us how the park's wildlife and forests are monitored, how nature is allowed to develop freely here, and how research and conservation go hand in hand in one of Germany's oldest national parks. A powerful reminder that some of the best learning happens outdoors and across disciplines.
- A visit to the Schülerforschungszentrum Berchtesgadener Land , where Deputy Director Katharina Heiermeier warmly opened the doors to this wonderful place of discovery and learning. Thank you for the inspiring insights, we will certainly be back.
