The academy is open to all TUM students who are nominated by the Deans or Deans of Studies of their faculties or who submit an application including a recommendation by one of the professors of the TUM. Students of HFF (Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film), ADBK (Akademie der Bildenden Künste) and HMTM (Hochschule für Musik und Theater München) are also invited to apply for TUM: Junge Akademie. Apart from the achievements during your studies, decisive criteria are creativity, community involvement, and willingness to take over responsibility.

„Disruption & Reconstruction – Opportunities for global collaboration“

The Advisory Board defined the call for the Year 2021 (beginning in autumn 2020). It reads: „Disruption & Reconstruction – Opportunities for global collaboration“. The academy consciously chose a broadly defined topic, to allow for a freedom of interpretation.

Find here a short video about the perception of our director to THE CALL 2021 of TUMJA [2:20 min/English]

"New options and insights based on new scientific findings, e.g. from digitalization, artificial intelligence, new production methods but also from new societal behavior patterns are often associated with the fear of disruption. However, these options essentially affect new possibilities for meeting human and societal needs, e.g. for mobility, for communication, for energy, for the sustainable protection of the planet earth, for legal security, and this generally with the potential to adjust the world for the better. The endeavor to meet human needs in their entirety is timeless, the solutions have always been volatile and their mutual weighting subject to fluctuations and Zeitgeist.

In your future projects, we want to encourage you to reflect on where important changes (disruption) can enable us for new opportunities (reconstruction) for the benefit of societies and individuals. Since the world has moved together and distances disappear we should also ask ourselves on how we can benefit from global learning and collaboration that is possible today in an unprecedented manner."
